THE TEAM MEMBERS OF TWIG HAVE BEEN TRAINED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LEARNING THROUGH LANDSCAPES TO OFFER SCHOOLS THE CAPABILITY TO BROADEN THE DELIVERY OF CURRICULUM AIMS OUTDOORS. AS AN EXAMPLE, WE WILL DEVELOP A GROWING AREA FOR FRUIT AND VEGETABLES; THIS CAN LINK TO LITERACY, NUMERACY, NUTRITION, SCIENCE, SOCIAL AWARENESS AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
Outdoor musical instruments allow for greater expression of children’s left brain activity; it can be something simple from a wooden xylophone or steel drums to complicated pentatonically tuned gongs and sound pipes.
Something as easy as installing a story telling area in a secluded spot can aid the development of imaginative play and this then links through to poetry and story writing outcomes in the literacy key stages.
